The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has suspended the song “Mukube Paver” by Dynaso Wegoso following numerous complaints about its content and the dangerous imitations it triggers.
As a result, all broadcasters, online platforms, and the general public are prohibited from airing, sharing, or promoting the song and any related content.
In an official statement dated Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the Commission stated that it conducted a review of the song’s lyrics and audio-visual content and found that it “explicitly and implicitly promotes, incites, and glorifies violence and aggressive conduct.”
The Commission highlighted that the song has triggered dangerous imitation behavior, noting a “growing trend of harmful 'challenge' activities on platforms such as TikTok and other social media, where especially young people are mimicking and glorifying violent acts.”
It warned that “continued dissemination of such content poses a risk to public safety, undermines societal values, and contravenes established broadcasting and content standards.”
As a result, the UCC directed that “all broadcasters to immediately suspend the airing, broadcasting, and distribution of the song 'Mukube Paver' on their platforms until further notice.”
The directive also covers programs or discussions referencing the song, and all online content providers and social media platforms are instructed to “immediately remove, disable access to, and prevent further upload or sharing of the said song and related content on their platforms.”
The Commission cautioned the public that “sharing, promotion, or distribution of prohibited content is an offence under the law and may attract individual liability,” and emphasized that “any person who contravenes this directive commits an offence and is liable, upon conviction, to a fine not exceeding forty-eight (48) currency points, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two (2) years, or both.”
Dynaso Wegoso has been invited to appear before the Commission on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to discuss the findings and explore corrective measures.
UCC urged “all broadcasters, digital platform operators, and members of the public [to] comply with this directive with immediate effect in order to avoid regulatory and legal sanctions.”
The regulator concluded by reaffirming its mission to “promote responsible content that upholds public morality, safety, and national values,” and called on all stakeholders to exercise “due diligence and responsibility in the creation, distribution, and dissemination of content.”
